We are pleased to announce that the President of the Republic of Poland, Mr Bronislaw Komorowski, decided to honour Dr Joerg Rasche’s public involvement in Poland with high civil state award, the Golden Cross of Merit.
Dr Rasche has been deeply involved in didactic activity in Poland for more than ten years. Since 2002 he has been teaching and giving seminars on a regular basis. Altogether he conducted 30 weekend trainings and a week-long training in Germany, all of which were dedicated to the topics of analytical psychology, Sandplay therapy and child psychopathology. Those seminars were taught at Polish academic centers. Dr Rasche was also the director of the first Sandplay therapy training organized in Poland. In all of his activities he worked on a voluntary basis, devoting his private time and sometimes also his private financial resources.
Dr Rasche has been for many years involved in development of the relationship between Polish and German psychiatrists and psychotherapists. His involvement was marked by highest sensitivity and care for the cultural and historical differences between the two countries. He organized multiple sessions devoted to those issues in a number of national and international scientific conferences held in Germany.
He initiated and organized the scientific conference on the cultural biases in psychiatric work, with particular focus on the social ramifications of the Second World War. This conference was held in 2005 in Frankfurt (Oder) – the borderland city between Poland and Germany.
Dr Rasche’s impeccable ethical attitude, his charity and devotion in his voluntary work, substantiate his decoration with the Golden Cross of Merit.
The ceremony took place on 15th of October 2012 in Krakow Jagiellonian University.
